Lip augmentation

As we age, the border of the upper lip is lost and the vermilion becomes inverted, resulting in the appearance of thin and ‘saddened’ lips.

The vertical wrinkles are commonly referred to as “smokers’ lines” and give a very obvious impression of ageing.

Lip augmentation treatment can create fuller and more attractive lips as well as reversing the ageing signs commonly seen in the lips and upper mouth.

Conditions that can be treated by lip augmentation treatment are:

  • Volume loss in the lips, perioral soft tissues and maxilla
  • Less defined borders
  • Loss of the philtrum ridges

How long do the effects last?

Treatment effects last from 6 – 8 months.

Results are visible immediately. However, it can take up to 1 week for any swelling to subside and for the final results to become visible.

What can I expect following lip augmentation treatment?

Bruising and redness may occur and it is best to avoid touching the skin for 24 hours. Vigorous exercise, sauna and swimming is also best avoided for 24 hours. A mild discomfort may be felt for which Paracetamol can be taken.

What are the risks of Lip Fillers?

  • Pain, bruising, bleeding (common)
  • Inflammation (rare)
  • Infection (rare)
  • Pigmentation increase or decrease (rare)
  • Local or systemic migration of filler
