Neck lift (‘nefertiti neck lift’)

The non-surgical neck lift which is sometimes referred to as the ‘Nefertiti neck lift’, is a method of improving the definition of the jawline and lifting the neck and jaw area.

By relaxing the muscles which pull the mid-face and neck downwards, the overall effect is an upward pull from the opposite muscles giving a lifted neck and more defined jawline.

The anti-wrinkle injections are administered by a surgeon. Between 20 to 40 tiny injections into the muscles that normally pull the face down, especially along the jawline, corners of the mouth, chin and neck bands. Nefertiti neck lift treatment will lead to the unopposed muscles of the face to act strongly and pull the face upwards as a result.

What can I expect following neck-lift treatment?

Paracetamol for analgesia bruising and redness may occur and it is best to avoid touching the skin for 24 hours. Vigorous exercise, sauna and swimming are also best avoided for 24 hours. A mild discomfort may be felt for which Paracetamol can be taken.

What are the risks?

  • Pain, bruising, bleeding (common)
  • Inflammation (rare)
  • Infection (rare)
  • Pigmentation increase or decrease (rare)

How long does a Nefertiti neck lift last?

The anti-wrinkle injection will block the platysma (neck band) muscle action for around 4 months. The muscle then takes a further period of time to fully recover. Treatments at 6 monthly intervals will weaken this muscle significantly. Repeated treatments result in muscle reconditioning and weakening of the treated muscles and strengthening of the opposing muscles means maintenance treatment is normally required every 6 months.
