Jaw reduction

Non-surgical jaw reduction is a technique to relax the large jaw muscle (Masseter) and give the jaw a more oval and softer feminine face shape.

Overaction or excessive contraction of the Masseter muscle can result in a square looking jaw line. Some people naturally have larger jaw muscles and in others, teeth grinding and excessive chewing of gum leads to the muscles becoming enlarged which can make the jaw appear wider.

What can I expect following non-surgical jaw reduction?

Paracetamol for analgesia bruising and redness may occur and it is best to avoid touching the skin for 24 hours. Vigorous exercise, sauna and swimming are also best avoided for 24 hours. A mild discomfort may be felt for which Paracetamol can be taken.

What are the risks?

  • Pain, bruising, bleeding (common)
  • Inflammation (rare)
  • Infection (rare)

How long does non-surgical jaw reduction last?

Results are noticeable after around 3 weeks and last up to 8 months. Relaxing parts of the jaw muscle with 2 -3 anti-wrinkle injections on each size can significantly improve the square jaw appearance.
